Filmmaker Nabil Ayouch weaves an intricate tapestry through the stories of five loosely-connected Moroccans, all of whom fight to forge their own destinies against a backdrop of economic change and mounting religious intolerance. An idealistic Berber teacher, an aspiring francophone feminist, a Jewish restauranteur and two teenagers grappling with their identities and dreams for the future, struggle to find their footing in a society experiencing a new wave of instability. An insightful portrait of modern Morocco and the people who define it.
