Outsider

A short documentary is about a young man named Avi, who left the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish community in which he was raised. A personal first-person survey of the importance of community, this film will explore Avi’s transition from Orthodox Judaism into modern and secular society. Combined with voiceover and relevant images of Jerusalem scenes, the film contrasts Avi’s place in his old community with his new community of Hillel, an organization that helps former Orthodox Jews integrate into contemporary Israeli life.
