Another Planet / Planeta Aheret

A documentary animation film about virtual models of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. The film unfolds within the models and follows their creators: Israeli high-school students who have used a flight simulator to reconstruct the Israeli Air Force flyover at Auschwitz; a German prosecutor who uses a computerized model of the camp for a criminal trial; a Polish graphic designer who created a virtual reality experience; an Israeli gamer who developed a revenge game; and a German architect and Israeli historian who have measured the camp to create an accurate architectural model. The film is designed like a mosaic, where animated figures of the model creators wander around their own models, revealing their personal motivations. This is a voyage into the depths of memory, which addresses the human obsession with reconstruction and documentation. Do computerized models offer new ways to represent memory and cope with trauma?
