Jewish Merchants of Downtown Hendersonville

“The idea is to teach some history and help people visualize what it looked like long ago,” said Beckerman. “My main message is that we live history even though we may not realize it – if someone doesn't tell the story, it will be lost.” Beckerman made the 53-minute film with Sid Williams over the length of a year – it premiered in August at Agudas Israel Congregation's Mountain Jewish Festival. Williams is a professional filmmaker who is a grandson of Louis Williams of Louis Williams and Sons hardware, formerly on Seventh Avenue. Beckerman, a 1963 Hendersonville High alumnus, is a grandson of Harry Mottsman, who had a dry cleaning business on North Main Street.
