Pnina Feiler, a Communist Nurse

Meet Pnina Feiler, an 85-year-old chain smoker extraordinaire, sporting a rat’s tail hairdo. Feiler hails from Kibbutz Yad Hannah, once known as “the Communist kibbutz.” Each week she crosses into the occupied territories, wearing her green bracelet made of peace signs, in order to deliver medical services to the people. She became a Communist at the age of 15 in Poland, immigrating to Palestine in 1938. Her children have left Israel, and their politics are not always in sync with hers. Often outrageous and always outspoken, she remains as uncompromising as she was as a girl in the Communist youth movement. http://www.tjff.com/film-info.php?id=188
