Volunteers

In 1960, when Israel was a young country under seige, idealism and the romantic idea of life in the kibbutz attracted many non-Jews to Israel. In “Volunteers”, a some European volunteers and their Israeli partners who, with different backgrounds, met in the kibbutz at that time, investigate this complex aspect of their personal and national identity. For example, one of the volunteers is German Angelica, daughter of a former Wehrmacht soldier. Her past weighs heavily on her, while she attempts to start her own family in present-day Israel.
