Theresienstadt: Danish children in nazi imprisonment

The Finnish director, Suvi Andrea Helminen, with this well-edited documentary, has created a unique testimony from the concentrtion camp, Theresienstadt. Birgit, Bjørn, Jytte, Poul, Rachel og Salle were among approximatly 500 Jews who did not succeed in finding refuge in Sweden. Their testimony is solidly woven into the story of Denmark’s occupation, Europe at war, and Holocaust – the Nazis’ attempt to exterminate Europe’s Jews. The six survivors tell gripping stories about anxiety, deprivation, hunger, brutality and loss, but also friendship, love and hope.
