The Rabbi’s Daughter and the Midwife

This documentary tells the story of two charismatic women who created positive change from within their community. Adina Bar-Shalom, the daughter of Rabbi Ovadia Yossef, established Israel’s first ultra-Orthodox academic institution of higher education for women. Rachel Chalkowski, a legendary head nurse and senior midwife, established a charitable foundation to assist impoverished ultra-Orthodox families. Each woman probes deeply into Israel’s ultra-Orthodox society with brave, feminine resourcefulness.
