In Search of Yiddish

Does Yiddish have a future? Join the singing Russian poet/scientist Alexander Gorodnitsky on the eve of his 75th birthday as he travels to Belarus and Israel in search of his family history and the remnants of the language of European Jews. Gorodnitsky presents poems and songs he wrote especially for this project, enriched by archival materials that help illuminate such Yiddish-speaking greats as Sholem Aleichem, Marc Chagall, and Chaim Soutine.
