Director and anthropologist Barbara Meyerhoff’s insightful short documentary won an Oscar. Like her book, it is based on case studies among Jewish elderly. Her footage from the Israel Levin Senior Adult Center in Venice, California, portray strong-willed people who value life and take resonsibility for their own needs. The film shows how these people can turn being old and having painful memories into a satisfying and meaningful life.
