The Pioneer Valley Jewish Film Festival is presenting the movie “My Mexican Shivah” at Pothole Pictures Friday, March 16, and Saturday, March 17. Arrive at 7 p.m. to hear the Wholesale Klezmer Band who will be performing before the showing on both nights. Based on a short story by Amherst College professor Ilan Stavans and directed by Alejandro Springall, the film is about the patriarch of a Mexican-Jewish family who dies suddenly, and whose relatives then observe the Jewish mourning ritual of Shivah for the next week. Stavans will be at the Saturday showing to invite conversation with the audience.
